I notice you're protecting frequently vandalized pages. You don't have to do this with the current version of Wikimedia. You should create a page like Commons:Protected against recreation, put the title of the page you want to delete in it, and then protect the page, selecting the "Cascading protection" option. This is a recurring problem on all the smaller wikis. I have copied the page from Commons (which was actually here) and modified it. Feel free to add other pages that seem to be coming up often. pennsilfaanisch-deitsches Wiktionary?

Hallo Dischdel-dritsch, zunächst einmal möchte ich dir und allen anderen Benutzern zu dieser schönen Wikipedia-Enzyklopädie auf Pennsylvania-Dutch gratulieren. Ich komme aus Deutschland und bin dort aktiv im Wikipedia und Wiktionary engagiert. Ich habe mich gefragt, ob ihr euch schon mal überlegt habt ein Wiktionary aufzubauen. Dies hätte den Vorteil, auch Pennsylvania Dutch-Dialekte, Aussprachebesonderheiten, regionale Bedeutungsunterschiede zwischen den einzelnen Counties darzustellen. Ich würde mich auch sehr freuen, wenn du und andere Mitbenutzer Einträge ins deutsche Wiktionary (deitsch-hochdeutsch)oder ins englische Wiktionary (deitsch-englisch) einbringen könntest. Falls du Bedenken darüber haben solltest, wie man Dialektausdrücke ins deutschen Wiktionary einbauen kann, so schau dir bitte diese Liste an. I will answer you in English, so that all of the North American users can contribute to our chat, if they like to. First of all: thank you for your invitation and your kind words - basically, I think it´s a good idea, but I don´t think we have the "manpower" to take part continuous in such a project. We´ve started the Wadde-Scheier ("Wörter-Scheuer"), a trilingual and quite simple and more or less easy to use dictionary especially for English speakers. In contrast to the more scientific orientated and comprehensive wictionaries of the English or High German wikipedias the Wadde-Scheier is actually more like a vocabulary list, so that Deitsch learners can easily refresh their word pool or even learn new vocabulary. For etymological reasons and to show similarities and varieties in meaning or pronunciation a “Hochdeitsch” (here simply a kind of collective name for the quite complex language situation in German-speaking Europe) section has been included, that actually tries to include all of the South-western German dialects, different national and historical varieties (“Bible German”, “Swiss High German” for instance) that influenced the German language in Pennsylvania and in the Midwest. thank you for replying that quickly.

i always was fascinated by and interested in german varieties outside of Europe. so i started to study german philology. but its very difficult to find sources and literature about these varieties (i.e. Brasilian german, Argentine german, Chilean german, Pennsylvania Dutch, Mennonite Plautdüütsch, etc.) even in universities and libraries. if you know any online dictionaries pennsylvania dutch<-->german/english, please let me know. (the only vocabulary list i found was here on the Deitscherei website.)

i think the Wadde-Scheier is a great idea. it would be great if i could copy this vocabulary list onto this site of the german wiktionary (scroll down to "pennsylvania dutch") although there is more information needed to create single articles (declensions, conjugations, pronunciation, gender, etymology, synonyms, antonyms, exemple phrases, region where the word is used, information about colloquial, childhood, standard, regional, pejorative, biblical, rare, etc. usage) that you and other users speaking pennsylvania dutch would be invited to add. the idea of the german wiktionary is to comprise every variety of the german language, not only the standard german language of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, but also of Belgium, Luxemburg, Liechtenstein, North Italy (Südtirol), Romania, Slovenia, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, southern Danemark, Namibia, South Africa, North, Central and South America, etc.

as for "manpower": i think it's important to remember that every variety of language is a cultural heritage that should be worth to perpetuate. so no matter how few people are taking part or how few time they have to join in, it's important to give it a try. but i understand as well that you have some doubts about building up an own wiktionary. so, again, everyone who speaks pennsylvania dutch is invited to join the german wiktionary.

i saw that there are some audio files on this beautiful wikipedelsche. so if i'm allowed to copy the vocabulary list into the german wiktionary, it would be very helpful to get the permission to use these files for the particular german articles as well.

i also want you to invite helping us to meliorate the Pennsylvania Dutch article in the german wikipedia. an exact discription of linguistical characteristics, classification of various dialects (origin, exemples, syntactical, lexicographical and pronunciation differences) and literature references are still missing.
